Project Description:
Elderly (typically between the ages of 70-85) tend to struggle reaching items out of the cabinets due to muscle mass loss and other physical deterioration that has occurred in their bodies. Thus, coupling this population with those who may face physical disabilities, ElderAssist Engineers aimed to create a retrofit system that can be installed in cabinets to lower items towards the end user. This solution is a two-shelf unit that can lower out of the cabinet itself with the push of the button as well as lower the top shelf to be at the level that our target population can reach safely and without struggle. This brings about a greater sense of independence for our users.
