Project Description:
The Adaptive Abdominal Compression Wrap is an device designed to improve recovery for patients undergoing abdominal pain or surgeries, such as menstrual cramps and C-sections. While traditional compression wraps often provide static, inflexible pressure that can become uncomfortable or ineffective as a patient moves, this project introduces a dynamic system capable of adjusting to varying activity levels and body postures. The design centers on two primary mechanical designs. First, a manual winch system that allows users to precisely set and maintain pressure levels between 15–30 mmHg. Second, a passive pulley system that enables the wrap to expand and contract naturally during physical activity. The wrap also features a detachable insulated heating layer capable of maintaining temperatures between 104–113°F (40–45°C). Ultimately, this project delivers a solution that improves the healing experience by prioritizing both mobility and comfort.
