Our prototype

Project Description:

Our project, which is sponsored by Stanley Black & Decker, is intended to be an attachment for a DCST 972 trimmer. The intent of this project is to convert the rotational motion to a linear motion that will also provide an impulse. This impulse will then transfer through the blade to the work surface cracking the tiles and making them easier to scrape up. This project is intended for more residential use as there are already effective solutions for large scale applications, but they are expensive. Our product utilizes two impact discs that have bearings and a spring. When the discs hit a groove in the other disk the blade/chuck move linearly and then fall back down.
