CHBE11: CHBE 11 - Anaerobic Digestion Process for Methane Production (ADPMP)

Anaerobic Digestion Process for Methane Production

Project Description:

Our project aims at converting biomass waste, specifically chicken manure, and converting it into methane. Poultry manure along the eastern shore of maryland leads to many negative environmental effects, and this project aims to alleviate some of that source. Besides just breaking down manure, this project aims to explore sustainable modifications, such as utilizing the produced biogas as CHP fuel, as well as solar energy to power standard facility electricity requirements. Because methane is not a very profitable product, this project is more intended to explore government-style waste management, rather than a commercializable process.
