Project Description:
Rebar tying is a repetitive and physically demanding task that can slow down construction and lead to fatigue over time. Our project focuses on designing a rebar tying attachment that connects to a standard impact driver to automate the process and make it faster and easier to use. The device uses a claw mechanism to secure the rebar intersection and a twisting system to create consistent ties with minimal user effort. Compared to manual tying, our design aims to significantly reduce tying time per joint while improving consistency and reducing strain on the user's hand and wrists. Throughout prototyping and testing, we focused on optimizing speed, reliability, and ease of use in real-world conditions. Overall, this attachment offers a practical, low-cost solution that can improve productivity on construction sites without requiring workers to switch to expensive standalone tools.
