Geothermal Greenhouse Heating System Prototype

Project Description:

Small-scale farms that utilize greenhouses on their farms frequently face challenges in maintaining soil and air temperatures needed to start seeds during the late winter and early spring. This is especially true for farmers in states such as Maryland, where farmers are often forced to wait until the environmental conditions improve before planting because of lower temperatures in the winter months. Current solutions for heating greenhouses are often too complicated or not financially viable for small-scale farms. Traditional heating systems like electric, gas, or propane typically require high installation and maintenance costs, making them expensive for many small-scale farms. We demonstrate a cost effective, geothermal solution to this problem with a fully designed energy extraction and distribution system.
