ENME29: Barnacle Reaction Force

Pipe Cleaning Device For Aquaculture

Project Description:

In the Horn Point Oyster Hatchery, pipe systems in the oyster broodstock room provide a constant flow of bay water to oysters being prepared for breeding.  Over the course of a month, these pipes get clogged by algae growths and barnacles, restricting water flow. Our device is a automated pipe cleaner, consisting of a coarse brush, barnacle scraper and aligning fins that traverse and rotate along the length of the pipe.
