Project Description:
The MDLR-J5 is a rapid-response aerial firefighting aircraft designed to support early wildfire suppression in regions with challenging terrain and limited ground accessibility, such as northwest Spain. The aircraft delivers up to 5 tonnes of suppressant through repeated short-cycle missions, operating from both regional airports and semi-prepared strips to minimize response time. Its high-wing, twin turboprop configuration ensures strong short takeoff and landing (STOL) performance, reliability, and efficiency in low-altitude operations. By enabling faster deployment and higher drop frequency, the MDLR-J5 improves initial attack effectiveness and helps contain wildfires before they escalate.
