Project Description:

This capstone project involves the development of a walker-based assistive device that enables elderly individuals to safely recover from a fall and return to a standing position without the help of anoher person. The system is designed to attach to an existing walker frame, allowing it to integrate with commercially available devices while preserving their original functionality. Once installed, it operates as a self-contained recovery system. The design incorporates a motor-driven lead screw, linear guides, and a foldable seat to provide controlled, stable lifting. The walker continues to serve as the primary structural support, ensuring that normal mobility is maintained when the lifting feature is not in use. Emphasis is placed on safety, reliability, and ease of operation, with smooth lifting motion and intuitive user interaction. Overall, the device aims to reduce the risk of injury, enhance user independence, and offer a practical solution for fall recovery in everyday environments.
