Project Description:

The SMILE swing is an automated therapeutic swing system designed to provide safe, independent swinging motion for children and young adults with disabilities. The system enables users to experience controlled vestibular sensory input without requiring continuous physical assistance from a parent or caregiver. The product is being developed in partnership with Volunteers for Medical Engineering (VME), which has received multiple annual requests (3-5 yearly) from families seeking an accessible powered swing solution. The Smile Swing is designed to be a durable, weather resistant and reproducible system that can be built and deployed by VME volunteers for local families in need.
