Powered Coping Saw Assembly

Project Description:

Our project, developed in collaboration with Stanley Black & Decker, is a powered coping saw designed to improve efficiency for carpenters and other users. To accommodate the added functionality of our design, we reengineered a traditional Scotch yoke mechanism, enabling blade movement independent of the frame. This innovation required us to rethink the original coping saw’s tensioning system, which relied on frame deflection. To maintain proper blade stability, we incorporated a custom spring tension mechanism that replicates and enhances the tensioning function in our powered design.
