Project Description:

Individuals who rely on wheelchairs for mobility face significant challenges when navigating steep inclines and rough terrain, such as cobblestones and grass, which can lead to long-term health issues like shoulder strain. Team F1 was tasked with designing and manufacturing a wheelchair mobility assistance device to help users by reducing physical strain and providing adjustable assistance levels based on individual needs. The primary stakeholder, Noah Hanssen, is a UMD student; therefore, the team placed special emphasis on ensuring the device could accommodate on-campus terrain.
